NEW ULRs JOIN THE TEAM

Welcome to Beverley Gibson and Dan Burn as new RMT ULRs.
Beverley is a Area Relief, Platforms in the Chatham Area and Dan is a Conductor at Gillingham.
Both have just completed their Union Learning Reps Stage 1 course at the National Education Centre in Doncaster this week. Which gives them the basic tool box to become an effective ULR. In a few months they will complete their training with a ULR Stage 2 course and get their final accreditation.
They are both keen to get started and promote lifelong learning in their local workplaces and further afield. With plenty of opportunities to access learning at work in learning centres and online. Or by signposting people to the nearest local education provider for their need such as Adult Education Centres or Colleges.
If you have any questions or ideas for learning that interest you then you can contact any one of the local ULRs around the patch. Their details are listed on the Local ULR Page click here for a link
Good luck to them both in their role as ULRs.

UNION LEARNING REPS FORUM 25

FORUM 25 is taking place on Thursday 5th December 2013

The ULR Forums are for all ULRs in Southeastern to come together and discuss issues around Lifelong Learning. Work together in solving any issues and plan for future activity that will benefit the employees and their families.

One of the issues for discussion is the launch of an online basics campaign to encourage people who are not very confident with computers to have a go and learn at least the basics of how to survive using the internet, for pleasure and learning.

We will also be looking at plans for the new year to set up courses that people want. Looking at other subjects as well as British Sign Language and Digital Photography.

We have also been asked to attend the Company Council meetings for Conductors and Retail Grades, to help them understand more about what ULRs do and how they can help to promote it.

We now have access to learning rooms at Chatham, Tonbridge, Dover and Orpington and possibly we may also have one in London near St Pancras. So if you live or work in those areas and would like a course in something. Speak to your local ULR for more information.

Click here for a list of ULRs and their locations

There are still vacancies for ULRs in many areas. If you are a Union Member and would like to help other people to get back into learning then contact your branch secretary
or email rslc-c@hotmail.co.uk
